New Leadership at Somerset Christian School

New Leadership at Somerset Christian School

by Elisabeth Hardy | Dec 16, 2020

Somerset Christian School is delighted to introduce Dr. Ron Gleaves who will become the new principal on January 4. Dr. Gleaves comes to us from Providence Christian Academy where he has been serving as the Administrator as well as a part-time teaching pastor at South Campbellsville Baptist Church. He has served as a pastor for 27 years and has been in education for 10 years teaching Bible, US History, and 6th in private, Christian schools in KY and TN. Also, for 3 years he was an adjunct professor of Religion at Bethel University. Dr. Gleaves has obtained a B.A. Biblical Studies, M.Th. in Pastoral & Church Leadership, Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, and an Ed.D. in Leadership.

On a personal note, Dr. Gleaves has been married to his wife Shelia for 30 years. They have 3 children, Joshua, Kara, and Emily. Their family enjoys playing H.O.R.S.E. together, riding bikes, being outdoors, and watching the Atlanta Braves.

“I have been asked what my vision is for SCS. First, it is important to acknowledge that the foundation of our school is strong and the Lord has used his faithful servant Mr. Hale to lead so effectively for so many years. I cannot begin to tell you how helpful Mr. Hale has been to me through this transition. He is truly God’s humble servant. In addition to that, the Lord has assembled an amazing team of faculty, staff, and volunteers. I get the honor to come to SCS and build upon what this team has done.

If I can boil my goals into two words, which is terribly difficult, they would be team and excellence. All great accomplishments are connected to teams that seek excellence in all that they attempt to do. So, one goal is to work diligently to build upon the team currently at SCS and those that will come along side us over the coming years. Next, I want to add to the pursuit of excellence at SCS – seeking excellence in every area of the school. I am thrilled because we are not beginning at square one – I get to take the baton and continue to build on the foundation already present.

All of this is great, but the primary goal of SCS is to lay Jesus on the hearts of students and families. We can create the best and brightest students of any school in Pulaski County, but if we do not give them Jesus, we will have failed them. I believe we can do both: being a school of excellence in spiritual matters and a school of excellence in education.

I am honored by this amazing opportunity and I am in awe that the Lord would bless me in this way. I look forward to getting to know you and your family and working with you to continue the great tradition of SCS excellence.”
