About The School

Somerset Christian School is a private Christian school in the Lake Cumberland region. Our campus sits atop 76 acres and was built in 2003. Our school is divided into 3 main educational wings: elementary school (pre-kindergarten beginning at age 3-5th grade), middle school (grades 6-8), and high school (grades 9-12). Our building was designed so that each age group has its own distinct learning space. Common areas include a full-size gymnasium, auditorium, SmartLab, cafeteria, library, music room, 2 computer labs, and more space to grow!

Somerset Christian School’s curriculum is designed to prepare SCS students for college and beyond. Our school is dual accredited at all grade levels by both the International Christian Accreditation Association and through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Academic offerings are diverse across all age groups at SCS with our high school students having opportunities to take advanced placement classes, as well as the ability to take classes for college credit. Here are just a few of the colleges where SCS students have matriculated: Vanderbilt, Harvard, Western Kentucky University, Bellarmine, Villanova, Air Force Academy, West Point, University of Kentucky, Berea College, and dozens of others.

At SCS, “Finding God in All Things” means faith in Jesus Christ informs every facet of life. Weekly chapel services from a biblical world view explore virtues such as integrity, respect, love, self-control and resilience. Our students learn the importance of developing character and teachers seek to help guide their personal formation throughout the curriculum. Each student will learn that leading as a follower of Christ means serving others and seeking God first.

Because school isn’t just about academics, SCS provides a robust offering of extracurricular activities. Our athletic conference is the KHSAA and we field 12 different sports teams across all age groups. Our campus has a baseball diamond, softball field, soccer field, and several cross country courses. We also offer 15 clubs, teams, and associations ranging from the Pep Band to the Kentucky United Nations Assembly. Learning takes place in many forms outside of the classroom and at SCS we are proud to offer a large variety of activities that keep our students moving and growing.

We hope this has given you a bird’s eye view of Somerset Christian School. There are many more questions you probably have and we would invite you to contact us or schedule a tour where we can address other questions. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
